A hermit monk and a roman soldier are the two protagonists of a painter's recurring dream. In the tale, the distance between the two eras doesn't seem to be there at all given the many aspects of the two characters' lives that “meet”, even in the symbolism (the sword with the blade pointing downwards recalls the shape of the cross). But after the tale something happens... Do dreams have a transcendental nature? Or, is storytelling always part of the dream?
