Honky Tonk Train Blues
A tribute to Keith Emerson who created a unique progressive rock genre as a kind of primordial fusion of styles, from classical to jazz while maintaining the rock imprint, but above all, because he influenced me to get started with the piano at the tender age of 12, playing ragtime and honky tonk. As I am self-taught, my performance could only be an interpretation of the song composed by Meade Lux Lewis in 1927, made famous by Keith Emerson specifically for his ability to create arrangements, for his techniques and above all for his charisma. A tribute is also a way to continue to remember him even after he's left us. Hello Keith, and thank you for making me dream with your music. Rest In Peace. From the Beginning
Marco had advised me to record a piano version of "From the Beginning", a beautiful song by Emerson, Lake & Palmer (from the album "Trilogy", 1972). Marco loved this song very much... He considered it perfect in composition, arrangement and execution (as well as the entire LP). Marco had excellent skills in appreciating and understanding all musical genres, primarily progressive rock, even if his first love was "The Fab Four" from Liverpool. One of the most important international collectors in the field of music, he stood out for his 360° knowledge..., a real intellectual heritage. I still regret not having seen him in action on the major music networks and magazines (I am convinced that he would have been an excellent music critic and commentator). Perhaps in the afterlife, he will finally have his space to recover that cultural revenge and those honours that unfortunately he did not receive on Earth. In conclusion, I would like to quote your following sentence "Nothing is real", similar words to my daily thought "Life is a state of mind". Ciao Marco! Your Faber.
